How we repair a ceiling
Find the cause
A crack or stain is often a symptom. We look for the movement, the failed tape or the leak behind it, and an active leak gets fixed before the ceiling is closed up.
Protect the room
Floors and furniture get covered before anything comes down.
Rebuild
Loose tape and damaged board or plaster come out, and new drywall or a patch goes in, fastened to the framing.
Tape, mud and sand
Finish coats are feathered wide and sanded smooth with HEPA dust extraction.
Match the texture
We match your ceiling’s texture, then prime and paint so the repair disappears.

Questions homeowners ask
Why does my ceiling keep cracking?
Common causes are seasonal movement, settling, tape that was never bedded well, and moisture. We find the cause first, then repair it with the right tape and compound so the crack is less likely to come back.
Is a water stain on my ceiling a problem?
It means water got in from above, like a roof, a bathroom or a pipe. Get the leak fixed first. Then we check the area for moisture, replace damaged drywall, and seal and paint the stain so it doesn’t bleed through.
Can you match my ceiling texture?
Yes. We match the existing texture so the repair blends in, like the swirl plaster ceiling we rebuilt in Indianapolis.
Do you remove popcorn ceilings too?
Yes. We sand the texture off with HEPA-vacuum sanders instead of wet scraping, after an asbestos test on ceilings from before the mid-1980s.
Will a ceiling repair be messy?
We cover floors and furniture first and sand with HEPA dust extraction, so there’s very little to no dust.

Apex Interiors is insured, and we stand behind our work. If something isn’t right with our work within 30 days of completion, we’ll come back and make it right at no additional labor cost.
